DEFENDER Ryan Green hopes that a recurring knee injury will stay away as the Bulls go into an important run of games.

The 37-year-old has been 'the rock' of the Bulls defence this season but was missing during the defeats against King's Lynn Town and Basingstoke.

He returned to Pete Beadle's side during Hereford's 5-1 win against Gosport Borough to the delight of Hereford fans.

"It's good to be back after a couple of weeks out and it's nice to be back on the field injury free with a good team performance and we deserved the three points," said Green following the victory.

"It was frustrating to miss the big game against King's Lynn Town and the Basingstoke game because of their home record but I've come back now with a good win Tuesday and today (Saturday) so just keep on going now.

"My injury felt good today to be fair it's a bit achy now but that's to be expected and I look forward to next week.

"I've had two operations before on the knee cartilage which was hurting and the back of my knee as well but it has settled down now and will hopefully stay away.

Hereford head into this Bank Holiday weekend fixtures with a single point advantage over King's Lynn Town and two games in hand.

"It's in our hands, four points clear with a game in hand, you would have snapped somebody's hand off at the start of the season if they gave you that," added Green

"We have just got to kick on and take each game as it comes starting from Saturday. We will have a look at other results after the game but on the pitch we will just focus on what we're doing.

"The games are running out so if we keep on picking up three points they won't be able to catch us."

Hereford manager Pete Beadle was delighted to have Green back in his side and could welcome Dara O'Shea back into Saturday's side after returning from international duty,

"He (Green) has been steady as a rock all season, he has been nice and strong and a great influence on the team," said Beadle.

"He brings that reassurance to the rest of the players when they play so it's nice to get him back in and involved again today.

"Dara O'Shea should be back for Saturday providing he doesn't have any injuries."

Beadle chose to play Jordan Liburd as Green's partner at the back over Jack Deaman on Saturday.

"You could have picked either or to play in there and I go back a couple of games when Ryan (Green) and Jordan (Liburd) played together at Farnborough and they did fairly well so I thought they might complement each other a little better maybe."
