HEREFORDSHIRE darts ace Jim Williams says it was an amazing feeling to win singles final at the WDF World Cup in Turkey.

Williams, from Shobdon, beat Scotland's Ross Montgomery 7-4 to make it two trophy wins in a row following victory at the EFES Turkish Open.

"It is brilliant because I expect it," said Williams, who also made the pairs' semi-finals, teaming with Mark Layton.

"To win two cups like that is crazy.

"I can't put my finger on why I'm playing so well at the moment, but these things just come at the right time.

"It is a confidence thing and I felt good."

Williams averaged 98 during the final and hit six 180s as well as two 12-dart finishes.

He also made two 10-dart finishes earlier in the tournament.

Williams went 4-0 and 5-1 up against Montgomery before the Scotsman won the next three legs.

But the Welsh star hit back to win the next three.

Williams, who is ranked 10 in the world by the BDO, will next be in action in Jersey next week before competing in a tournament in Belgium.

The Finder Darts Masters in the Netherlands, which is the Dutch version of the Lakeside competition in England, then awaits.

As reported by the Hereford Times last week, Williams will face Tony O'Shea in the first round of the BDO World Darts Championships at Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green in January.

Scott Mitchell is the defending champion, but Williams believes Glen Durrant is the favourite.

"He is playing brilliantly at the moment," said Williams.
