HEREFORD'S Daniel Evans made history at the weekend by becoming the youngest driver to win Herefordshire Motor Club's Humphrey and Symonds Rally in Builth Wells.

The 23-year-old, whose co-driver was Stephen Hodges-Small, beat Chris Powell and Jim Lewis to take the win.

But their win was even more impressive considering Damian Cole, a multiple MSA Asphalt Champion, finished fourth and the pair were in a 1400cc Nova car.

"I spoke to the chairman afterwards and was told I was the youngest by a few years," said Evans.

"This is the second time I have entered it having done it last year.

"My dad Ian did it for many years and won the BTRDA 1400 Championship."

Meanwhile, fellow Herefordshire Motor Club members Kevin and Mike Pugh will be competing at the Network Q Wales Rally GB National event next weekend.

This will be the third year the duo will have taken part in Britain''s round of the World Rally Championship, having previously competed in a Vauxhall Astra and a Fiat Stilo Abarth Trofeo.

The Pughs entered this year;s BTRDA Rally Championship N3 Class and finished second overall. The event starts from Deeside, near Chester, next Friday and will finish two days later.
