A MEMBER of North Hereford Pony Club Senior Mounted Games Team was part of a winning England team at an international competition in Ireland.

Georgia Edwards, riding Maggie, represented her country for the second time this year.

The top six mounted games riders from each country – England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland – were selected to ride for their nation in the spring.

The first of the international competitions was at the Royal International Horse Show in Windsor where England were second.

But, this time England took top spot at the latest event at Curragh Racecourse, near Dublin.

"My pony Maggie and I have had such a wonderful experience competing as part of the England Team," said Edwards, who is 14.

"The great thing about mounted games is that almost any rider and pony can take part.

"You just need to be prepared to train and be dedicated."

Edwards's club also finished fifth in the Irish Pony Club Club's International Mounted Games competition.

The team consisted of Georgia Barrett, who was riding Toffee, Lottie Edwards (Rollo), Aerin Thomas (Ghanni), Charlotte Wilson (JJ) and Pippa Wollen (Fern).

" The standard of competition was very high and all our team members rode so well, being fast, accurate, athletic and focused," said team trainer Ed Chamberlain.
