TWO goals from Tia Taylor helped Hereford gain their first win of the West Clubs' Women's Hockey League season with a 3-0 success over Marlborough in Premier Division 2A.

The city side went into the game having lost three of their opening four games, but took the lead through Tess Langford.

Taylor swiftly added a second before wrapping up the game.

Hereford are next in action on November 7 due to the league having a break this weekend.

However, they face a tough trip to Newent, who have won all of their opening five games and sit top of the pile.

Hereford's second team fell to a 7-1 defeat at Cheltenham 4th in Severn Division 1.

Cerys Johnson scored for Hereford in her first game for the club.

It was also a bad day at the office for Colwall & Malvern, who were only able to field nine players and subsequently lost 9-3 to East Glos in the same division.

Colwall 2nd were hammered 12-0 by Severn Division 3 leaders Evesham & Badsey.

Colwall sit bottom of the table on minus three points having failed to fulfill a fixture earlier in the season.

It was better news for Ross-on-Wye, who beat Stroud 2nd 2-1 in Severn Division 2.

In the South Wales Hockey League, Sioned Price put Presteigne ahead against Whitchurch Saints 2nd in Premier 2, but the away side hit back to win 3-1.

Kington's match against Dinefwr A'r Fro Merched was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Hereford's difficult start to the Conference North season in the GoCrea8 Hockey League continued as the city side were comfortably beaten 5-0 by Devizes.

A couple of injuries early in the game effectively left them playing with nine men.

Hereford had chances to take the leaf, but it was Devizes who went into the break 1-0 up.

The Wiltshire side then added four unanswered goals in the second half to wrap up the game.

Hereford have a home game against Leominster this Saturday.

Leominster also lost last Saturday, going down 4-2 to Robinsons 2nd.

In the Marches 1, Hereford 2nd beat Cirencester 3rd 4-0, while Leominster 2nd lost 6-3 at Lansdown 2nd.

Ross-on-Wye hammered Newent 3rd 7-1 and sit comfortably in fourth place in The Marches 2.
