RADNORSHIRE Men's Indoor Bowls Team have strengthened their side with the acquisition of Hereford player Rob Weale.

The team, which will be playing in the Welsh Club Championship, has also brought Gareth Wills in to the squad too.

Weale has been assisting Islwyn Indoor Bowling Club for the past decade and, ironically, Radnorshire entertain Islwyn at home this Saturday, followed by a visit to Cynon Valley the following Saturday.

“I am pleased to be playing for Radnorshire again," said Weale.

"After competing for Islwyn since 2004, prior to that I played for Radnorshire for about 10 years."

Weale, who lives in Hereford, was crowned World Indoor Singles champion in 2000.

He says he is looking forward to the coming season and is hoping to help Radnorshire Men’s team have a good indoor campaign.

Wills, meanwhile, is also Hereford based and also played some games for Islwyn but is now intending to play more bowls than he has been able to in recent seasons. Weale is hoping to play regularly but he will be unavailable in early November when he flies out to a Hong Kong tournament to represent Wales in the singles and pairs competitions with fellow countryman Mark Wyatt.

In late November he is also away until December 13, again representing his country, this time in Cyprus in the Atlantic Rim competition.
