A COUNTY teenage rider was a double winner at the British Eventing Homme House horse trials at Much Marcle.

Isabel Benbow, from near Bromyard, competed on her pony Brynithon Scorpion, who she has trained from a foal.

She took the top honours in the BE90 class, as well as bringing home a trophy for the best rider living in Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

The Benbow family run the Herefordshire riding centre, Tipton Hall Riding School near Bromyard, and Isabel, who is 16, is a member of Wyre Forest Pony Club.

Isabel and Bryn have recently qualified to represent Area 9 Pony Club at the Pony Club National Championships at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire, for both dressage and eventing, later this month.

Meanwhile, Lucy Pincus from Hereford has booked a place in the Dodson & Horrell Novice Open and Restricted event at the prestigious National Dressage Championship at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire between September 17 and 20.

The 18-year-old, riding Sheepcote Dream Lover, won through in the Novice Open B section at the recent Summer Regional Dressage finals held at Mount Ballon in Monmouthshire.

During the season there are over 1,000 Dodson & Horrell novice qualifying rounds and then seven regional finals with over 600 competitors, all competing for a place at next month’s showpiece championship.
