WORLD Superbike ace Chaz Davies will be aiming to to try and close the gap on second-placed Tom Sykes in Malaysia this weekend.

Davies, from Kinsham, near Presteigne, secured an excellent double win in the last round in Laguca Seca, USA to be within 19 points of Sykes in the world championship leaderboard.

Davies won both races from pole position and completed his most impressive weekend in World Superbikes since making his debut in 2011.

It was the second and third time Davies had topped the podium for Ducati following his win in Aragon and marks another step for the bike manufacturer following a couple of lean years. Jonathan Rea leads the standings on 407 points, with Davies 23 points ahead of fourth-placed Leon Haslam.
