GREGG Morgan was in unbeatable form once again as his best gross ensured he won Burghill Valley Golf Club's Men's Championship for the third year in a row.

Morgan scored two rounds of 72 to beat Carl Rose by five shots, with Richard Lloyd coming in third.

Earlier in the year, Morgan also won the BVGC Open Championship, with fellow club member Kris Jones winning the County Championship.

The net prize was won by 17 handicapper Ryan Price with rounds of 68 and 69 ahead of Jack Rees Jones and Rose.

Meanwhile, Louis Preece won the Rabbits Cup for members handicapped 18 and over.

Mick Higginbotham was second ahead of Colin Davies.

The ladies, meanwhile, recently played a stableford competition.

Carroll Ashton came top in the silver division on 29 points ahead of Sally Davies.

Christine Thurgood (37 points) won the Bronze A category, ahead of June Walker (34) and Caroline Bunyon (34), with Pat Rhodes (39) beating Paulette Scholes (31) and Rebecca Murphy (30) to come top in Bronze B.

The ladies of Burghill also played a stableford competition last weekend.

Section winners were Pam Layton (silver - 37 points), Jan Bowen (Bronze 'A' - 37) and Jill Cross (Bronze 'B' - 35).

Meanwhile, Olwen Helme won Grove Golf Club's Lady Captains Day Badger contest.

Dorothy Harris was second, with Cherry Snell third.

Helme was also nearest the pin, with Greta Davies having the most straight drive and Brenda Bowen the longest.

In the deer ladies section, Sue Davenport came top with 41, ahead of Gina Whyke (39) and Jan Mussell (36).

Cynthia Fenn was nearest the pin, with Lynn Hanley having the most straight drive and Caroline Lewis the longest.
