HEREFORD'S Combat Academy enjoyed a successful 12 months with students picking up over 200 medals.

At their recent awards night, chief coaches Dave Coles and Simon Small thanked them for their efforts throughout the tear and paid tribute to the help and support from parents.

The team amassed a total haul 77 gold, 69 silver and 54 bronze medals in Brazilian and Japanese Jiu Jitsu, kickboxing and grappling.

Domestically, they had 17 British champions, 12 Welsh national champions and two English national champions crowned.

Success was also achieved abroad with Ash Amos winning a silver medal at the International BJJ Federation European Championships in Portugal.

In the UK rankings for BJJ, the club had nine juniors in the top 20, with one adult and one master ranked at number one.

In addition to this Alex Quinn, Dali Hopkins and Ryan Hill were selected to be part of the UK BJJ Elite Youth Squad

Quinn and Hopkins were also chosen to represent the UK team at the IBJJF Pan American Kids Championships being held in America, and Hill was selected to represent the team in the European Championships being held in Portugal. As the number one ranked fighter in the UK, Ash Amos was also selected to compete in the European Championships.
