Who is your sporting hero? Lucinda Green, as she won Badminton and Burghley so many times, on all sorts of different horses
Who is your sporting mentor? Andrew Nicholson, he is so helpful to me on any sort of advice with my horses and how to ride certain jumps on the big courses.
What is your best sporting moment? Winning my first three day event in 2005 at Blair Castle in Scotland when I won the 3 star competition with my own homebred horse Partly Pickled.
.And the worst? Falling at Badminton at the penultimate cross country fence having done the most amazing clear round to that point
Do you have any sporting ambitions? To be selected to compete for Great Britain and to ride at the next Olympics (that might be two things!?)
What was the last trophy you won? The Calcutta cup for the top eventing horse in the country. Whitson won this as he scored more points than any other horse competing.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given? To imagine that I am just jumping at one of our regular showjumping shows like Hartpury or Summerhouse, when I am about to go in and jump a really important showjumping round at one of the three day events on the final day, when the pressure is really on!
What is the best piece of advice to give to a youngster? Never stop trying to reach your goals. Everything is possible.
Do you have an superstitions? Not keen on the number 13. I was worried to be drawn number 13 at Pau this year for Whitson's first four star. It can't have been all bad though as I ended up 13th!
What possession would you save if your house was burning down? My dog
Which five people would you invite around for dinner and why? Billy Connolly, as he is very funny. Sebastian Coe, for all he achieved in his chosen sport and his insight into other sports too. Sir Steve Redgrave, for all his amazing results over such a long time period. David Attenborough, as he would have so many interesting stories to tell, and I love nature too having done a biology degree. Lady Ga Ga, as it would just be so funny to see what she came dressed in, she could sing and maybe would lighten the general mood!
What hobbies do you have outside your chosen sport? Keeping fit and reading
