City of Hereford Swimming club finished in a very respectable third place in round two of the National Arena swimming league.

A tough draw including 2013 Midlands champions City of Derby, who brought along world record holder Adam Peaty for the 100m breast-stroke, national performance centre City of Coventry and regional junior league finalists Stratford Sharks signalled some tough racing ahead.

Hereford's Patrick Blake leading the 200 IM until the half way stage before Peaty showed his class on the breast-stroke.

Calypso Harvey again put in a PB performance in the girls' event.

Hereford’s 13/u teams look strong all night with the girls' medley team of Harriet Aldous Fountain, Amy Barrall, Grace Eddy and Maisie Tucker and the boys' medley team of Pierre Oosthuizen, James Bilbao, Tom Watkins and Nathan Wallace winning by clear margins, while the 13/u boys also won their freestyle relay.

Makayla Garcia continued where she left off in round 1, winning the 10/11 years 50m Butterfly in a remarkable 33.87 seconds.

Star of the evening was 13-year-old Grace Eddy, who put in outstanding technical and tactical performances in both the 13/u and 15/u 100 fly, winning the 13/u and finishing a strong third in the 15/u.

Blake and Aldous Fountain maintained their dominance in the backstroke event, Blake swimming a new lifetime best to win his heat by nearly 10m in 56.01 seconds, and Aldous Fountain controlling her race from start to finish.

Eleven-year-old James Casewell rounded off the club's individual victories, taking the 50m freestyle and 50m breast-stroke while being a member of the winning 11-year-old boys' medley relay team.

Hereford won 10 of the 50 events on the evening.
