HEREFORD Dynamix have two Midlands champions after a double success at the Midlands Closed Trampoline and DMT Championships in Walsall.

Jemma Morgan and Anna Inglis both returned with titles in the Double-Mini Trampoline (DMT) competition while Catherine Sheridan was a winner in the under-15 Midlands Closed TRA championship.

"The competition day started at 8am for our DMT competitors, all of whom were very nervous," said head coach Sam Board.

"Our members don’t get to train on the DMT very often due to borrowing landing mats from a local gymnastics club. Even so, they competed really well with amazing results."

Jemma Morgan (U15) and Anna Inglis (O15) were bothcrowned DMT Midlands Closed champions, while Lizzy Harding (O15) and Marcus Carey Powell (U15) claimed runners-up spots with Catherine Sheridan (U15) fourth.

But that was far from being the end of the day's successes with further excitement as the trampoline competition got underway.

"The rules for this trampoline competition allow the children to perform their highest skill level voluntary routine as there is no tariff cap," explained Board. "They compete in age group no matter what level of trampolinist they are, so there is a complete mix of novice, regional and national performers.

"Our members worked extremely hard on their routines with all competing their highest tariff routine to date, some with 10 somersaults consisting of doubles and twisting somersaults."

Highlight of the competition day was Catherine Sheridan's success in being crowned under-15 Midlands Closed TRA champion.

"Catherine’s routines were outstanding and she performed the highest tariff in her group," said Board.

Seven-year-old Max Cotterrell came within 0.1 of a point of a second title for the club and had to be content with second place in the under-9 category.

"This was the first competition where Max has performed a somersault," said Board. "The judges were amazed at his execution of skills at such a young age.

Others who achieved podium positions are Marcus Carey Powell 3rd (U11), Liam Cotterrell 3rd (U13) and Anna Inglis 2nd (U17).

“I am so pleased with all that entered the closed competition for Hereford Dynamix," said Board. "They have trained hard to pull together these complex routines and should be very proud of themselves”

Coaches Emma Watkins and Amanda Knox were due to compete in the British Veterans Trampoline Championships last weekend.
