HEREFORDSHIRE Men closed their season with a match against Royal Berkshire on an excellent green at Shrivenham.

Herefordshire managed to win on three rinks although defeated by 122 shots to 108 overall.

John Wear was in superb form and skipped his rink to a 21-12 win after being level at 8-8 after 12 ends.

Bob Black and Ray Harris were in fine form at the front and Bob Murdoch performed excellently as usual at third.

Mike Holmes' rink were 8-8 after nine ends but won seven of the remaining ends for a 21-17 victory.

Don Pugh played extremely well at third with Malcom Simpson and Jack Gray in support.

The third winning rink was skipped by Mike Charles and led 20-6 after 16 ends before Berkshire fought back to pick up 11 shots against one in the remaining ends but Herefordshire won 21-17.

The rink skipped by Clive Hanscombe fought well but were always behind and finally lost by 27-14

Colin Reading's rink started badly and were down 22-9 after 14 ends and scored only four singles against five to finish 27-13 down.

Clive Allen's rink had a very close game and were unfortunate to go down by 22-18.
