MUCH Marcle racer Ben Davis made an immediate impression with a top-five finish when he he made his Michelin Clio Cup Series debut at Snetterton.

The 21-year-old, who progressed through karting ranks, spent a few successful seasons racing 140mph Superkarts whilst completing his Law degree.

He qualified a respectable ninth out of 16 for the two 10-lap races and after avoiding the usual first-lap problems which can be a feature of Clio races, spent the remainder of the race chasing down the leading pack.

He worked his way up to finish in an impressive seventh position, just 5.5 seconds behind winner Mike Robinson.

He also took the Race Sport Class victory and fastest lap for drivers without a full year’s car racing experience.

Davis fared even better in the second race, finishing in fifth place as well as taking the class win and fastest lap for the second time

“It was an incredible weekend that I came into with limited testing and expectations," he said.

"As the weekend progressed and with the help and support from the guys at Finesse, I got more and more confident and was absolutely delighted with where I ended up.

"I have to thank TECS Distribution Ltd for believing in me.

“I hope to use this result as a platform for securing partners for the 2015 season, but the high-profile and competitive Michelin Clio Cup Series is where I want to be in order to progress my racing career.”
