FOUR Herefordshire players from the Herefordshire Badminton Academy have starred for South Wales in the Welsh Shuttles finals in Welshpool.
Ella Williams (Ledbury Primary School) won the under-11 girls' singles, clinically beating her opponents.
In the under-11 boys' singles Ledbury Primary School pair Max Williams and Josh Philips met in the semi-finals, with Josh winning a very close match before losing losing out after three hard games in the final.
This game was umpired by the Head of Coaching at Badminton England.
Later Max and Josh teamed up and won the under-11 boys' doubles convincingly, their style standing out as being the only partnership in the hall.
Lucy Parker (Lord Scudamore School) lost her semi -final in the girls under-13 singles in the 3rd game, she took both finalists to 3.
Such was the standard played by the Herefordshire contingent they have been encouraged to cross the border and enter further Welsh tournaments.
"All four played fantastically, playing hard and fair in every point," said Herefordshire Badminton Academy coach Jonty Williams.
"I am very proud of the players."
