SAUL Halpin continued his impressive scoring record for Westfields as he fired a hat-trick to earn the city side a 3-1 Midland Aliance win at Loughborough University.

Former Torquay United striker Halpin has now scored six goals in the past week.

Pegasus Juniors maintained their challenge at the top of the West Midlands League Premier Division with a 2-0 win at Dudley Sports.

And Wellington came close to doing their near rivals a big favour but were pipped 2-1 at second-placed Shawbury.

Bromyard Town, meanwhile, were beaten 2-1 at Wellington Amateurs.

In Division One, Ledbury Town won county bragging rights when they made the short journey to Hereford and beat Lads Club 2-1.

Luctonians were overpowered by National Two North leaders Macclesfield who cruised to a 59-5 success.

But Hereford bounced back from the previous week’s disappointment with a 34-11 home win over Silhillians in Midlands One West.

Ledbury’s Midlands Three West (South) season has taken a disappointing turn in the last few weeks and the downturn continued with a 35-23 home reverse against Pershore.

It was a bad day for the county’s Midlands Four West (North) sides with Greyhound beaten 20-0 at Cleobury Mortimer and Bromyard going down 21-13 at home to Tenbury.

Ross also suffered a setback in Gloucester Two when they were beaten 17-15 at home by second-bottom Westbury on Severn.
