Wins for Westfields, Pegasus Juniors and Luctonians but Hereford beaten
WESTFIELDS produced one of their best performances of the season when they beat Midland Alliance title favourites Tividale 2-1 at allpay.park Saul Halpin struck in each half to inflict only the third defeat of the season on Tividale who had led through Karl Edwards.
Pegasus Juniors bounced back after last week’s defeat against Shawbury with a 5-0 win at fifth-placed Sporting Khalsa.
Goals from Jason Prosser, Tom Dawson, Mark Davies, Ben Price and a Cory Hyde penalty keep Juniors in third place in the table.
Wellington were also in good form and saw off Cradley Town 3-0 to maintain their hold on ninth place in the table.
But Bromyard Town’s position was not improved when they were beaten 3-0 at Delahay Meadow by Wolverhampton Sporting Community, one of only three teams below them in the table.
In Division One, Bartestree forced a 1-1 draw at third-placed Haughmond to maintain their hold on second spot, at least for the time being.
But Bartestree have now completed their programme while Haughmond, who trail them by one point, have five games left to play.
Luctonians will be enjoying their long trip back from Otley after a 19-17 National Two North victory.
But Hereford missed a great chance to move into the play-off spots when they were beaten 22-18 at struggling Old Laurentians.
Hereford would have gone second as Burton also lost 21-20 at Silhillians.
Ross enjoyed a good win on the road in Gloucester Two when they had a 29-20 victory at Bristol Aero Co.
In the British Touring Car Championship, Lea Wood, in his first outing in the new Toyota Avensis, will be 24th on the grid for tomorrow’s first race at Brands Hatch.
