HALL Family Taekwon-do have a world champion in their midst after instructor Sarah Hall struck gold at the Professional Unification of Martial Arts World Championships in Swindon.

Instructor Sarah and her husband Luke were part of an eight-strong squad which trained to take part in the event which featured competitors from all over the world.

Alex Winney, age nine, Jason Winney, and Nick Slane each fought in their first international competition and although they all put up a great fight and showed amazing spirit they sadly missed out on medals.

But there were silver medals for eight-year-old Marcus Ashfield who was taking part in only his second World championships, and Jon Walsh, a more experienced competitor who has taken part in a number of national tournaments.

Assistant instructor Dan Sneddon, who also entered his first international tournament, took a bronze medal while Luke Hall, a former bronze and silver World champion medal-holder, took bronze and narrowly missed out on the silver.

Sarah Hall was also taking part in only her second World championships and battled through to take gold.

"We are extremely proud of all the students who took part and also those who helped in the training process," said Luke and Sarah Hall. "Hall Family always provides the best opportunities they can for the students and will continue to lead by example."
