Westfields beat Bromsgrove to progress in the FA Vase but Luctonians beaten again
WESTFIELDS have made progress in the FA Vase after beating Bromsgrove Sporting 3-2 to move into the second round.
But it took a last-minute penalty from Craig Jones to seal the win after Bromsgrove had fought back to level the scores.
The other Westfields goals came from Jamie Insall, also from the penalty spot, and Jamie Cuss.
Pegasus Juniors also showed improved form as they held on to third place in the Wes Midlands League Premier Division after a 4-1 win at Wolverhampton Casuals.
In-form Cory Hyde scored twice with the other goals coming from Anthony Robbins and Chris Mortlock.
But it was not such a good day for Bromyard Town, beaten 6-1 at Bilston.
In Division One, Bartestree took county honours with a 1-0 win at Lads Club to hold on to third place in the table.
Ledbury Town are in seventh place after being held to a 3-3 home draw by Penncroft.
Luctonians were beaten for the second successive week, going down 19-18 at home to Preston Grasshoppers in National Two North.
But Hereford bounced back from their reverse at Burton the previous week with a 25-16 home win over Whitchurch in Midlands One West.
Ledbury went out of the Midlands Senior Vase at the second-round stage when they were narrowly beaten 17-14 at Edwardians.
Bromyard, meanwhile, are through to the third round of the Midlands Junior Vase after an away walk-over against Birmingham Civil Service.
But, in the same competition, it was a bad day for Greyhound who received a 51-7 pounding at Woodrush.
