FIVE drivers from Cotswold BMW Saxon drivers had a solid outing in Germany in the sixth round of the VLN Endurance Championship.

Nick Barrow, Jamie Morrow and Clint Bardwell completed the race at Nordschlieffe in a creditable fourth place in their class and 53rd overall in the 150 V10 which saw the pit crew refuelling and changing drivers three times in its four hour duration.

Meanwhile, Ellis Hadley and Martin Gibson managed two hours each in the driving seat before changing over on their way to qualifying for next May's 24-hour race on the same course.

The regulations for that event demand that each driver has previously completed a minimum of 18 competitive laps over three races before being allowed to enter.

Sponsored by Giti tyres, Hadley and Gibson declared themselves satisfied with their progress.

“From a Giti point of view the partnership with Saxon is proving invaluable for tire testing and jumping the hurdles of the 24-hour permit," said Gibson.

"The combination of team experience and vehicle reliability has allowed our complete focus to be on the tyres and the driving."

The pair finished second in class, and 93rd overall out of an entry of 147 cars.

The team will return to “The Green Hell” as the track is known for round eight of the Championship on September 24 where it is hoped more success will lead to the 24 hour permits being confirmed.
