Goodrich and Garnons continue battle at top of GB Liners Marches League

THE battle for supremacy at the top of the GB Liners Marches League looks like going to the wire after the two leading contenders both won at the weekend.

Garnons were bowled out for just 126, despite 45 from Alan Jones, in their home match with Weobley .

But James Bolton (5-31) and fine support from Stuart Griffiths rushed out the visitors for only 87.

James O’Brien, with 32, was the top-scorer for second-placed Goodrich who were only able to muster 156-9 at Builth. But it was enough for success as O’Brien collected a couple of wickets which helped peg the Welshmen back to 92.

Bartestree & Lugwardine ’s Dave Robinson (91) was the day’s leading run-getter in Division 1 and his efforts ensured a narrow 14-run success over Glangrwyney.

Half-centuries for Duncan Platford (56) and Kyle Prince (53) brought Luctonians a five-wicket win over Dales.

Kington remain at the foot of the table after a 92-run defeat by Crickhowell.

Marden took a big step towards a place in Division 1 with Peter Gale’s 108 helping a three-run win over promotion rivals Talgarth.
