More than 50 Wye members cheered Higgs on to victory against Walsall’s Joel Ryan in a thrilling title fight at GL Leisure Centre in Gloucester.

A celebration then took place at Wye ABC when Higgs brought his belt to the city.

Higgs said: “I’m overwhelmed by the support from everyone in Hereford.” He added: “In a lot of ways its been a homecoming for me as my family is originally from Breinton in Herefordshire.

“I want to continue to try to keep everyone proud of what I’m doing.”
