THE cases against two Didcot Town players charged following an abandoned game against Hereford have been dismissed.

Sam Elkins faced two charges of assault by beating and one of common assault, while Callum McNish had one charge of common assault.

However, the cases against the pair were dismissed at Oxford & Southern Oxfordshire Magistrates Court earlier today.

It is understood that coach Sam Parish saw all matters against him dismissed at an earlier hearing.

The Southern League Division One South & West match was abandoned following an altercation between players and supporters shortly after Hereford striker Mike Symons put his side 2-1 up.

One supporter went on to the pitch to confront Didcot goalkeeper Leigh Bedwell, which led to some of his team mates intervening.

Elkins, aged 27, of Wantage Road, Wallingford, and McNish, 25, of Lock Crescent, Kidlington, both pleased not guilty to the charges.

The match was later played behind closed doors, with Hereford prevailing 2-1.
