A COUNTY cyclist picked up two trophies at the RTTC Cycling National Awards ceremony.

Josh Sandman, from Ross-on-Wye, recorded an excellent time of 20 minutes 32 seconds at the 10-mile National Championships while riding for Backstedt Hotchillie.

The teenager came second overall in the under-18 category with an average speed of 29.221mph at the event that was held in Cockermouth, Cumbria, pipping NFTO Race Club's James Morris.

He also claimed the fastest 17-year-old prize for over 10 miles in the competition and was presented with the medal by Sean Yates, a legend in the time trial world.

Last year, Sandman also finished third in the Scarborough Festival of Cycling event , which consisted of a steep climb named Quarry Hill.
