MANAGER Pete Beadle praised his players after they saw off Potters Bar Town 2-1 in their FA Trophy second qualifying round replay on Tuesday night.

The Bulls' team bus broke down on the way to the game, resulting in the match kicking off just after 8.20pm.

But the Hertfordshire side rarely troubled Beadle's team, with Hereford in control for large periods of the game.

"There was a lot of confusion when we broke down because we didn't know if we would get a spare bus, so there were long delays," said Beadle.

"But the players just got on with it, they never moaned and once they got to the ground, they got their gear on and prepared as best as they could,

"If you ask Potters Bar, I think they would say we deserved to win.

"We had the lions share of possession and were fairly comfortable throughout.

"I was really proud of the players."

Up next for Hereford will be an away tie at Oxford City.

The National League South side are third from bottom, but are through to the second round of the FA Cup having beat League Two outfit Colchester United away from home.

"They've had a poor start but their FA Cup run seems to have given them a lift," added Beadle.

"We are confident in our ability that we can beat them if we're in the right frame of mind."

The match will be played on November 25, meaning the long away trip to King's Lynn will have to be played in midweek.

"In our first season we clawed the gap on Alvechurch and towards the end got ahead of them," said Beadle.

"Last season we were knocked out of the cups quite early, but momentum has always been a key word for us and the players want to keep playing games and winning."

Potters Bar frustrated Hereford on Saturday, while the Bulls were wayward in front of goal.

But Beadle's team got off to a great start in the replay when Lance Smith tapped home in the 13th minute.

Hereford had to wait until the 70th minute to get the all important second goal when a Potters Bar player diverted the ball into his own goal.

Substitute Rokas Janilionis pulled a goal back five minutes from time, but Hereford held on.

Hereford: Horsell, O'Shea, Page, Reffell, Green, Deaman, Preen, Bird, Mills, Haysham (Franklin 83), Smith (Symons 56).

Subs not used: Hayes, A Harris.

Attendance: 230.
