A COUNTY Cup match had to be abandoned following a serious injury to a player.
Holme Lacy's Matt Wargen was taken to hospital following a collision that occurred during his side's encounter with Malvern Town Reserves.
Wargen had earlier scored for twice for Lacy, including a penalty, but Malvern came back to level the game thanks to a brace from Sam Hayes.
The tie was heading to extra-time when Wargen went down in the 88th minute.
Following a consultation between the officials and both managers, the game was abandoned and an ambulance called.
The match will now be replayed in the next few weeks.
