GUY Thompson and his Wasps team mates came agonisingly short in today's Aviva Premiership Final - losing 23-20 after extra-time to Exeter Chiefs.
It looked like Wasps would be getting their hands on the trophy after coming from behind to lead 20-17, but a last minute penalty from Gareth Steenson took the tie into extra-time.
Steenson then slotted the winning kick with three extra-time minutes left after Exeter were denied a try by the television match official moments earlier.
It has still been a remarkable journey for Hereford born Thompson.
The flanker joined Wasps in the 2013/14 season and made his debut against Harlequins at Twickenham in front of 62,637 fans.
He has since scored over 20 tries for the Coventry based side.
