A PROMISING county cricketer had a remarkable day for Hereford Girls Under-13s on Sunday.
Harriet Shuker – who has been selected to play for Shropshire Ladies this Sunday – made history by becoming the first girl to score a century in girls cricket in Herefordshire.
And if that wasn’t enough, the teenager also took eight wickets and five catches in the match against Warwickshire.
“Harriet is a very promising player who always wants to better herself,” said Herefordshire girls coach Anna Robertson.
"She has the right attitude and I believe she will go on and progress further.
“She plays for Brockhampton 4ths and Herefordshire county under-13 girls squad and has just joined a women’s team at Worfield Cricket Club which play in the Women’s Midlands league Division 1. She is also off to Barbados in the summer to play for a national team.
Played at Luctonians, Herefordshire posted 271-9, with Harriet top scoring with 128.
Warwickshire were then bowled out for just 75.
“My Herefordshire under-13 girls are looking very strong this season and I was delighted that everything clicked on the day,” added Robertson.
"Harriet is the captain and sets the field really well.
"Last season was an exceptional one for her and I think she can go a long way."
