ENGLAND Blind Football coach Jon Pugh is to to join Wellington as assistant manager.

Pugh joins the club from Hinton Reserves and played in goal for Westfields for a number of years.

He will assist new manager Gary Stevens, who has replaced Derek Williams.

Meanwhile, Paul Jones has been named first team player of the year.

Jones played every game last season as Wellington finished fifth in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division.

Jordan Threlfall was named reserve team player of the year and Pete Wall the best player for Colts.

The respective team's leading scorers were Josh Hunt, Nick Britton and Rich McDonald.

Wellington also have a list of five pre-season friendlies.

They kick off with a home match against Hereford on July 15, followed by away matches at Kington, Shawbury and Lydney.

A home encounter against Radnor wraps things up on August 2.

Pre-season training starts on Tuesday, June 20 and takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.45pm.
