GREYHOUND captain Chris Ricketts said his team 'never got going' in their loss to Midlands 5 West (North) promotion rivals Tenbury.

Ill-discipline mis-placed passes proved to be the Hereford side's downfall and Tenbury won 11-3.

"The games are always close between the two sides as we are very similar in our play," said Ricketts.

"We knew it was going to be tough having not played for three weeks, but we never got going.

"We were all a bit rusty and I think, with their quick backline, we did well to hold them out as long as we did.

"In the second half, I could see that that the first try would win the game and I was right.

"We had a few chances to put the game to bed, but our handling wasn't as good and our play not clinical enough

"We had a strong squad available, but we just needed something to trigger us into our normal free-flowing rugby."

Fellow forward Oli Paton also felt Tenbury were the better team.

"They had a very good defence with fast line speed and we just couldn't get through them," said Paton.

"We tried to chip over and it didn't work and all credit to them – they sucked us in and scored in the corner at the end.

"We're still in contention for promotion though with big games ahead of us at home.

"We're not out of it yet, it's just going to be a harder battle in the next few games.

"We've got Market Drayton down here for our last game and hopefully it could be a title decider."

Greyhound host Aston Old Edwardians this Saturday in the Midlands Junior Vase.

"We've got to dust ourselves off and regroup with loads to work on in training," added Ricketts.

"We are hoping for another good cup run this year."
