WELLINGTON manager Derek Williams says the villagers are extremely fortunate to have experienced coach Gary Stevens on board.

The former Hereford United player has played a key role in Wellington punching above their weight in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division.

“Bringing in Gary Stevens has been massive for us,” said Williams.

“It is hard for a club like Wellington, because it is what it is – just a village club.

“So to bring in a highly qualified coach like Gary, with his tactical awareness, has been a big help for us.”

Wellington were due to host Black Country Rangers on New Year’s Eve, but their opponents pulled out.

Therefore, they will return back to action this Saturday with a home game against third-from-bottom Wellington Amateurs.

Pegasus Juniors are also playing and will be looking for more consistency in order to climb up the division.

Anthony Robbins’ team have won 11 and lost 11 so far this season, which sees them lying in 11th position.

This Saturday, they host whipping boys Gornal Athletic.

Consistency is certainly not a problem for Hereford Lads Club though.

Danny Moon’s boys have won 17 of their 18 games in Division One and look odds-on to claim promotion.

They resume their campaign at home to Wyrley this Saturday.

Bromyard Town and Kington Town also found their form at the back end of last year following poor starts.

This Saturday, Bromyard host Old Wulfrunians, while Kington go to Wrens Nest.
