WESTFIELDS will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a special dinner on Saturday night.

Former players and managers will join the current team at the Three Counties Hotel to reminisce over the club's rich history.

This season has undoubtedly put Westfields on the footballing map thanks to their run to the first round of the FA Cup, which resulted in television coverage and BBC Football Focus filming live from allpay.park.

Westfields was set up by current chief executive Andy Morris, Keith Scott, Dave Mathias, Roy Chandler and Dave Sockett in 1966 on the back of England winning the World Cup in 1966 and started life in the Herefordshire Sunday League.

They spent 10 years there before moving to the Worcester & District League in 1973.

Westfields moved from Widemarsh Common to Rotherwas in 1975 and later played in the West Midlands League.

The 1986/87 season saw Westfields reach the fifth round of the FA Vase before losing to Vauxhall Motors of Luton after extra time and winning the Division One title.

Off the field, Westfields moved to their present allpay.park ground in 2003, which was officially opened by Sir Trevor Brooking.

The West Midlands Premier Division title was also wrapped up before Westfields earned consecutive runner-up spots in the Midland Football League in 2012 and 2013.

Comedian John Stiles will provide the entertainment on Saturday night.
