HAY St Marys and Knighton Town both bowed out of the Spar Mid Wales League Cup following second round exits. Hay knew they would be up against it versus a Berriew side unbeaten in eleven and a depleted Saints suffered a 4-1 defeat. Steve Morgan netted the Hay goal with Richard Davies bagging a hat-trick for Berriew.
Knighton took on first division leaders Rhayader Town and fell to a 3-0 home defeat with Richie Powell, Tom Bethell and Gareth Hughes scoring in the second half.
In the Spar Mid Wales League Second Division, Ollie Woods and Aeron Powell each completed a hat-trick in Newbridge’s 6-2 home success over Llansantffraid Village.
Presteigne went down 3-0 at Aberystwyth University – a fourth straight defeat for Tom Ammonds’ side.
Harry Sharman grabbed a hat-trick as Talgarth Town extended their lead at the top of the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South) with a 6-1 victory over Knighton Town Reserves.
Ben Sharman, Alex Simmons and Jordan Harvey (penalty) completed the tally with Max Lewis netting for Knighton.
Hay St Marys Reserves continued their upward trend with second half goals from Matty Tong, Kevin Jones (penalty) and Darren Horrigan securing a 3-0 win over injury hit Newcastle.
