WESTFIELDS chief executive Andy Morris is hopeful his FA Cup giantkillers will still attract a large attendance for their first round match against Curzon Ashton, despite it clashing with a Hereford FC home match.

Morris has confirmed to the Hereford Times that Westfields' match has not been chosen as one of the televised matches on the Friday or Sunday.

Last season, the BBC also selected eight matches as part of a Final Score highlights package on the Sunday, but Morris hasn't been informed if Westfields will be chosen.

"We've spoken to the FA and been told that we have to kick off on Saturday, November 5 at 3pm, as per FA regulations," said Morris.

"We have to live with that because the rules are that you have to kick off at 3pm on the Saturday.

"It's unfortunate that Hereford are home, but they have to run their club and we have to run ours.

"But so many people in Hereford watched us on Saturday and I'm sure they will again."

Morris was in Manchester on Monday night to watch the first round draw live and he said the past week has been amazing.

"It's been non-stop, a total whirlwind," said Morris.

"I've been inundated with calls – we've even set up a media manager to deal with it all.

"I can't explain the hype of it and the response from all the local teams has been fantastic.

"The Hereford football family as I call it really have been supportive."

Westfields' unbeaten run came to an end on Tuesday night when they lost 2-0 to Alvechurch in the Midland Football League Premier Division.

Danny Dubidat opened the scoring with a header in the 35th minute before Westfields goalkeeper Matt Gwynne saved a Josh March penalty just before half-time.

But March redeemed himself moments later by scoring Alvechurch's second goal.

"It was always going to be difficult because everyone wants to beat the cup giantkillers," added Morris.

"The lads have had such a busy week and Alvechurch were really fired up."
