HEREFORD FC have again turned to Westfields in an attempt to bolster their squad.

The Bulls have put in an official seven-day approach for striker Jamie Molyneux, who has been one of Westfields' star players this season.

The former Redditch United marksman is the leading goal scorer at allpay.park with 11 goals and netted twice on Wednesday night in a 7-1 hammering against Highgate United.

However, Hereford face a battle with Solihull Moors to prise Molyneux away after the National League Premier side also put in a seven-day approach.

Westfields manager Sean Edwards confirmed that Hereford spoke to Molyneux, who lives near Leominster, yesterday.

If the striker does make the short journey to Edgar Street, he would be the fourth Westfields player to have made the switch in just over a year.

Joel Edwards became Hereford manager Pete Beadle's first captain prior to the start of last season before midfielder Anthony Robbins made the switch in October.

Striker Jamie Cuss became the latest player to move sides in the summer.

"We are disappointed that they have put an approach in for him because they've got enough strikers and I hope they have put in the seven days for the right reasons," said Edwards.

"But it's football and I don't bedgrudge them putting in an approach - we do it to other teams.

"Jamie Molyneux is a good player and has done well for us.

"He's a non-contract player at Westfields, so it's down to him now.

"If he does go there, then he will go with our blessing - I just hope he gets an opportunity to play."

Westfields are seven points clear at the top of Midland Football League Premier Division and are through to the third qualifying round of the FA Cup.

The cup encounter is against Walton Casuals next Saturday.

"It is frustrating, but we certainly expect these things," added Edwards.

"Jamie has not played much for two years and this is the first time for a long time that he is enjoying his football.

"He is versatile, but is mainly a number 10 who likes to play in the hole."
