ROSS-on-Wye Cricket Club are considering going into the Marches League next season.

The county side currently run two teams in the Worcestershire County League, with the first team playing in Division Three.

But a loss of key players has hit them hard, resulting in them finishing just 14 points above the drop zone.

"We are going to give it a lot of thought and see what is best for the make up of the club, including the juniors and the seniors," said club secretary Jim Lewis.

"We lost a few strong first team players and they made us competitive in Division Three of the Worcestershire League.

"What we do not want to see is more people drift away and not getting two teams out."

Lewis believes that the lack of cricket shown on terrestrial television has had a knock-out effect, resulting in fewer youngsters taking up the sport.

"School participation has dropped away significantly and you're not getting kids watching stuff on TV and being inspired," said Lewis.

"Brockhampton have four teams and a lot of the better sides in Birmingham can cope, but the more rural you get, the more difficult it becomes because you don't have the same level of commitment.

"We don't want one team in one league and one in another, so we will have to think hard about whether we stay where we are or home as it were."

Ross finished their season with a four-wicket defeat to bottom club Cleobury Mortimer.

Captain James Tiffen batted well to score 74, but Ross were skittled out for 143.

Only Tim Dulson (12) managed to get into double figures.

Cleobury eased to their target in 38.1 overs.

Wormelow, meanwhile, managed to stay in Division Two due to Enville losing to Feckenham.

The villagers, under the caretaker leadership of Tom Cutler, had a losing draw at Worcester Dominies.

Cutler is hopeful of leading the side permanently next season.

"I have come through the juniors and got promoted with the Seconds last year," said Cutler.

"Fingers crossed it will be made permanent, it just needs to go to the committee to decide."

South African Josh Worsley will also be allowed to play in the Worcestershire League next season.

His educational visa meant that he was only eligible to play for the Thirds in the Marches League this campaign.

Elsewhere, Colwall beat Division One champions Worcester Nomads by 96 runs thanks to a fine century from Tom Coleman, but Burghill, Tillington & Weobley lost by one wicket.

In Division Two, Bromyard had a great win against Redditch, while Bartestree & Lugwardine slipped to a defeat against Old Vigornians.
