BROCKHAMPTON chairman Roy Wargen says his club will strengthen again in the winter to ensure they can consolidate their position in the Premier Division of the Birmingham & District Premier League.

The villagers have bounced straight back into the division following promotion from Division One.

"We've got the right people in place now and we'll be looking to strengthen in order to be successful," said Wargen.

"Nick Powell has been absolutely outstanding as captain, but we've got people behind the scenes like Dave Powell, who does the scoring.

"Some clubs don't struggle to get these people, but we've got people at the club who do a great job.

"We've got a good team atmosphere and no real superstars

"Everyone just fights together."

Wargen also believes the acquisition of coach Matt Bullock has been key to Brockhampton's success.

"He has made a huge difference," said Wargen.

"He does his coaching in a calm way but he knows what he is doing."

Brockhampton missed out on winning the league title to Dorridge and lost by 85 runs to Bromsgrove in their last match.

"It would have been more gutting if Dorridge had lost as well, but it's great to get promoted and bounce back to the Premier Division straight away," added Wargen.

"What we didn't want was to stay in the first division and be stuck in mid-table and then lose players.

"But we have brought in some great players this year, like Ryan Tongue, who has been fantastic.

"Jimmy Mokler has also come up from the seconds and you've got players like Adam Hewlett, who has played for years.

"Our overseas player Senuran [Muthusamy] has also been outstanding."

Eastnor, meanwhile, bowed out of the Birmingham League with a six wicket defeat to Newport.
