BROCKHAMPTON Under-13s are now one of the top 16 sides in the country for their age group after making the group final of the NatWest National Club Championship.

The age group side successfully beat a strong Lisvane team by three runs and will now face Salisbury in the final on August 3 .

This is the second year running that the Under-13s have made it to this level.

The match against Lisvane started with Brockhampton batting first.

The efforts of Charlie Williams and Charlie Laing, both retiring at 30, and a useful contribution from other opener Theo Mayall (16) led their side to a competitive total of 123-5 off their 20 overs.

Lisvane’s chase was immediately halted with the loss of an early wicket; Elliot Manacchini-Godfrey with the breakthrough.

However, the Welsh side began to control the game and put on strong partnerships, with two batsmen retiring on 30 and one finishing on 25 not out.

Despite the lack of wicket taking from the Brockhampton side, good bowling and excellent fielding produced a superb defence of their total.

Lisvane fell three runs short, finishing 120-2.
