SIRDIC Grant says he was happy to sign for Westfields after penning a season-long deal with the club.

The Ghanaian, who was also linked to Midland Football League rivals Alvechurch, put pen to paper at allpay.park prior to Westfields' pre-season friendly against Bewdley Town.

"I'm happy to sign because Westfields have got a great bunch of lads I think they will do well this year," said the former Hereford FC midfielder.

"The set up is good and I think the pitch is good to play football on.

"I played against Alvechurch and Westfields and I had to make my mind up.

"I'm not saying Alvechurch are a bad team, they;'re one of the biggest clubs in the league, but personally I chose Westfields.

"I have known Sean [Edwards] for a while and I chose to sign for him."

Grant, who studies at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire and whose girlfriend lives in Hereford, scored his for his new club in the 7-3 win.

"It's always good to get a goal and I've signed fora new club, so it's good to get a good start," added Grant.

However, Grant could have doubled his account when he was awarded a penalty.

But, despite chipping his spot-kick against the crossbar, Grant wasn't too disheartened.

"It's been something I've been working on at Hartpury," explained Grant.

"Back at Hartpury, I have taken a few penalties and I took the first penalty in a major tournament in Sweden.

"It wasn't a bad penalty, but I have to try a bit better next time."
