BROCKHAMPTON won their sixth consecutive match in the Birmingham & District Premier League Division One after a four-wicket against top-of-the-table Dorridge.

Newly selected England Under-19s player Josh Tongue led with both bat and ball, taking four wickets and scoring an unbeaten fifty, while overseas Senuran Muthusamy also collected three wickets and scored an important 46.

Brockhampton elected to field and the decision paid off early as four quick wickets left Dorridge staggering to 39-4.

Opener Iftikhar Ahmad gave an early resistance as he fell seven short of a fifty, but was removed by Tongue who conceded just 13 runs off his 12 overs bowled.

Dorridge captain and Herefordshire player, David Ball, with the aid of Mark Swanick, began to move the visitors towards a competitive total with scores of 37 and 67 respectively and managed to stumble to 202 all out.

Brockhampton began their chase in stuttered fashion, losing wickets at regular intervals, with Henry Langford, Ian Bullock and Ryan Tongue all losing their wicket in the teens.

Muthusamy and Joe Crichard came together at the crease and put on an essential fifty partnership, with the latter falling to Ball who finished with figures of 2-31.

However, the wicket brought Tongue to the crease who marked his recent England call up with a match-winning 51 not out off 62 balls.

Brock skipper Nicholas Powell also finished unbeaten with 22, as Tongue completed his half-century with a four to finish off the match and confirm Brockhampton’s win.
