HEREFORDSHIRE are through to the quarter-finals of the Unicorn Minor Counties Knock-out Trophy despite losing by 51 runs to Wales.
The county will now face Bedfordshire in the last eight at Dunstable on Sunday, June 12.
Herefordshire won the toss and asked Wales to bat first.
Wales started very well, with their first four batsmen adding runs to out them in control at 189-4.
But good bowling by David Exall and Neil Pinner saw Wales bowled out for 264 in 48.3 overs.
Exall finished with figures of 4-24, while Pinner claimed 3-71.
Herefordshire progressed to 134-3, but ended up on 164-7.
Heavy rain then brought an end to proceedings, with Wales emerging as victors via the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Pinner top-scored for the home side with an excellent 81.
