COUNTY ace Rob Weale has been inducted into the Welsh Indoor Bowl Association's inaugural Hall of Fame for his outstanding contribution to the sport.

Weale, who is originally from Presteigne but now lives in Hereford, won the World Indoor Bowls Championship in 2000 and took gold in the men's singles at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

He currently plays for Radnorshire and was one of 24 greats to be inducted at the ceremony in Swansea.

“What a great evening it was to enjoy and a special time spent with the legends of our game," said Weale, who added he was honoured and privileged to be counted among the great bowls players and appreciated the recognition.

The citation was signed by Jackie Hunt, president of the Welsh Indoor Bowling Association.
