COVENTRY Sphinx are safe from relegation in Midland Football League Premier Division following a comfortable 3-0 win against Westfields last night.

Sphinx took the lead on the stroke of half time when Trey Braithwaite fired low past Jon Hopkins.

Earlier, Westfields had seen a shot from Blaine Waugh sail over the bar.

After the break, Sean Edwards' side again had chances to draw level when Tom Bendall had a good opportunity, but midway through the half Coventry went 2-0 ahead with a long range effort.

Hopkins then saved a penalty after Phil Glover upended a striker, but was beaten when Sam Archer-Plane diverted the ball into his own net.

Coventry's win means Bardon Hill are the third and final team to be relegated from the division.

Westfields have now only won once in their last eight league games and entertain Rocester this Saturday in their final home fixture.
