WESTFIELDS bounced back from a poor defeat by Dunkirk by holding fourth-placed Shepshed Dynamo to a 2-2 draw in Midland Football League Premier Division.

Unlike the Dunkirk game, manager Sean Edwards was able to field a full-strength side, including five fit substitutes.

Shepshed started lively and Matt Gwynne had to make two fine saves.

The home side went ahead in the 37th minute when a left-wing corner was punched clear by Gwynne.

But the ball landed invitingly for Aidan Hohn to fire the ball home through a ruck of players.

Westfields quickly equalised when James Baldwin was brought down in the penalty area.

Up stepped Ben Miller, who slotted home the spot-kick.

After the break, Westfields got off to a dream start when Baldwin cut into the penalty area before firing a low shot past the goalkeeper.

But the away side conceded a soft goal when Matt Langham was left with the easy task of beating Gwynne from 10 yards out.

Westfields brought on Zac Sirrell and Blaine Waugh to provide more pace to their attack and should have gone back in front when Sam Gwynne threaded a lovely ball through to Jamie Cuss.

But Westfields' leading marksman shot weakly at the home keeper.

Matt Gwynne then tipped over a far host header, but it ended 2-2 – Westfields' 12th league draw of the season.

Westfields, who face Coventry Sphinx this Wednesday night, are home to Rocester this Saturday, which will be followed by the presentation of the Supporters' Play of the Year award.
