JOHN Mills says he is happy to stay at Hereford FC next season - as long as manager Pete Beadle wants him.

The Bulls' leading marksman - who scored his 50th goal of the season in an 8-0 drubbing of Heanor Town yesterday - has been in and out of the side recently.

"We haven't spoken about next season yet, but if the gaffer wants me, I will be here next year," said Mills.

"Anyone with ambition in football will always be disappointed to be on the bench, it's no different for me.

"I want to be playing, but I take it on the chin.

"I spoke to Beads [Pete Beadle], I know exactly where i stand and I can't say a lot when the boys are playing as well as they are.

"At the start of the season, goals were going in left, right and centre, but the overall performance wasn't as good as it could have been.

"Working hard is the main thing and Beads has drilled that into me.

"I hope that I show that, whenever I do play, I do try hard and we work as a team.

"I work hard and the team ethic is magnificent.

"I'm just biding my chance for when it comes and take it when I get it."

Mills revealed he had a goal target at the start of the season, but he hasn't reached it yet.

"I need to get back on the pitch if I'm going to reach it," admitted Mills.

"As long as the team is winning though and playing well, it doesn't matter whether I score goals as long as we're winning games."

Mills scored the eighth goal yesterday.

Pablo Haysham netted a hat-trick, while Joe Tumelty scored twice.

But Tumelty missed a chance to complete his hat-trick when his stoppage time penalty was saved.

"Right from the start, everyone was straight on them, a good free-kick by Pabs [Pablo Haysham] and once we get the first one or two, with the intensity we play at and the determination everyone puts in, teams will crumble under pressure," added Mills.

"Beads [Pete Beadle] has got on us a lot, obviously we've been coming in at half-time either drawing or a goal down, but that has stopped the last few games.

"The boys were magnificent and started at such a high tempo and buried teams in the first half.

"It was nice to spread it around a few people , I'm obviously delighted for Pabs to get his hat-trick, gutted for Joe at the end .

"We should have given it to Jimmy [Oates] thinking about it, we need Jimmy and Sid [Sirdic Grant] to get a goal.

"Everyone is in this together and it doesn't matter who scored the goals.

"Everyone is chipping in their own way and we're playing really well together."

Hereford will be crowned league champions tomorrow night with victory at Coventry Sphinx.

"Monday is a massive game for us, we deserve to win this league.," said Mills.

"No team is going to roll over, we have to work every game and work the same way as we did yesterday.

"No game is easy - look at Dunkirk, how hard was that game?"
