HEREFORD FC's nearest challengers in the race for the Midland Football League Premier Division title dropped points at home to Quorn tonight.

Bulls supporter Simon Wright, who lives in the Black Country, went to the game and provided unprecedented coverage that left his fellow fans gripped.

Quorn took an early lead before Alvechurch saw a penalty saved.

And when the Worcestershire side had a goal disallowed before half-time, Hereford fans started to believe that Quorn could provide them with a much-needed favour.

However, Zack Foster equalised for Alvechurch 10 minutes into the second half and the feeling among Hereford fans was that Ian Long's side would go on and win the game.

Alvechurch had not dropped any points since drawing against Boldmere St Michaels on October 20, whereas Quorn were fourth from bottom in the division.

But, as the minutes went by, Hereford fans started to believe.

Thanks to Simon's efforts on a fans' page on social network site Facebook, they kicked every ball and saved every shot.

And when news broke that Quorn had held on for a draw, relief was felt among the Hereford fans, with many thanking Simon for his work.

These are just some of the comments that fans posted after the game.

Francis Williams: "That was simply the best hour I've not seen this season."

Kev Evans: "Full marks to Simon Wright for keeping us updated tonight. Well done boyo."

Ruth Walkden: "A very special thanks to Simon Wright tonight for the updates. A real star!"

Russell Milward: "Fantastic coverage by Simon Wright tonight, thanks so much, was kicking every ball at the end."

Liam Brewer: "Brilliant updates from Simon Wright!! I have just watched the last half hour of the Alvechurch game through text and refreshing my phone every second!!! Tense moments!!! They will drop more points!!!"

Will Morrall: " Top work Simon. notifications turned off now :-)"

Speaking to the Hereford Times after the game, Simon said he was just "responding to social media demand."

He added that Quorn had the better chances and Alvechurch were "quite ordinary".

"It was hard to spot who the promotion chasers were," he said,

"Alvechurch rarely flowed and so often, their attacks floundered on the edge of the box."

Alvechurch can still go above Hereford if they win their four games in hand and are home to Brocton this Saturday.

Hereford, meanwhile, travel to Hartley Wintney in the fifth round of the FA Vase.
