LEDBURY bounced back from a defeat against Southam by beating Cheltenham North 22-12 in Midlands 3 West (South) to set them up nicely for this Saturday's trip table-toppers Evesham.

Rob Anscomb put in an outstanding captain’s display to lead his side to victory, which keeps Ledbury on track for promotion.

A slow start by Ledbury saw the visitors open up a 7-0 advantage, but Anscomb’s boys responded with an Ali Park try.

But, straight away, Cheltenham North were on the attack and, following sustained pressure, went over the try line to increase their lead. Ledbury levelled the game when Dave Bromage converted Andrew Beecham’s try before Bromage kicked over a penalty. The victory was sealed when Anscomb dived over for a try, which Bromage converted.

The win leaves Ledbury just a point behind Evesham, although the Worcestershire side have a game in hand.

Bromyard comfortably beat Yardley & District 17-0 in Midlands 4 West (North). Will Tomkins and Greg Leighton scored first half tries before Tom Morris added a third after the break, converted by Matt Swain.

Bromyard travel to Aldridge this Saturday.

But it was a bad day at the office for Greyhound, who went down 29-0 to Tenbury in Midlands 5 West (North). However, Greyhound can rectify it when they face the same opponents this Saturday.
