GOLFER Ollie Farr has lost his place as a fully-fledged European Tour professional after one season.

The 27-year-old, from Hereford, finished 156th overall on the European Tour with only the top 110 players retaining their cards for next term.

Farr enjoyed a promising start to the campaign, including joint 27th place at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

He also competed at the US Open n Chambers Bay, Washington, where he missed the cut.

But Farr had a disappointing second half of the season, missing the cut eight times in his final 10 competitions.

“Ollie has lost his card and we don’t know what his situation is yet,” confirmed Graham Farr, the Worcester Golf and Country Club professional who coaches his son.

“We have a meeting lined up at the end of this week to see what his options are.

“We will be working hard to get it back next season.

"Andy Sullivan lost his card after his first year on the European Tour but won it back and has gone from strength to strength.”

Farr had secured his place on the tour alongside golf's elite after finishing 10th in the European Challenge Tour rankings in 2014.

“The first half of the season was reasonable and there were times when Ollie was well placed after 36 holes but he didn’t convert his early promise into money and points," added Graham,

“Ollie is disappointed to have lost his card but he’s had a wonderful experience and is now working hard to get it back."
