WELLINGTON had to settle for a draw after letting a two goal lead slip against Gornal Athletic in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division.

Gornal started well and hit a post before Wellington goalkeeper Cris Manciu was required to make a number of saves.

But Welly then took control of the game and were awarded a penalty four minutes before half-time after Adam Newbury was brought down.

Paul Jones duly slotted the spot-kick home before he doubled his side's advantage shortly afterwards after being set up by Zac Sirrell.

But Wellington's joy was short-lived as Gornal scored twice within a minute after the break.

The Herefordshire side did have chances to regain the lead though, with Gornal's goalkeeper pulling off a great save to deny Sirrell a minute from time.

Pegasus Juniors' fine recent run was also ended as they succumbed to a 4-2 defeat at league leaders Haughmond.

The Shropshire side raced into a two-goal lead within the first 11 minutes before Sam Pearson struck twice to level matters before half-time.

But it was Haughmond who went on to win the game after the break, with two goals from Dan Perry sealing the win.

Bromyard Town are still in trouble at the wrong end of the table after going down 4-3 at home to Black Country Rangers.

Nick Smith's side are second from bottom on 10 points, but do have two games in hand on Wellington Amateurs, the side immediately above them.
